About the show
Disney's African savannah comes to the Lyceum in a stage production celebrated for Julie Taymor's puppetry, the Elton John and Tim Rice score, and a near-quarter-century run in London.
Few stage shows have shaped the modern West End the way The Lion King has. Julie Taymor's design - cantering wildebeest puppetry, sun-rise pageantry and African choral arrangements layered on top of Elton John and Tim Rice's familiar score - turned the Lyceum into one of London's most reliable destinations for both families and theatre obsessives. The show tells the story of Simba's exile and return through Hans Zimmer's score and Lebo M's vocal arrangements, alongside extended musical sequences that go further than the 1994 film. It runs roughly two hours and forty minutes including the interval and is generally recommended for ages six and up.
